The Imagination Playground initiative began as a site-specific playground design featuring large-scale building modules. When the project grew into a start-up distributing construction play systems to museums and schools, it needed a brand strategy and visual identity to communicate a clear and consistent marketing message.
Our team created a brand platform, graphic identity system, and initial launch of print and digital collateral. As the company grew distribution internationally, we continued to expand branding efforts with content for the educational community as well as exhibits and programming for the consumer audience.

Our team grew the Imagination Playground brand from a single product offering to an extended line of physical products, events & programming, digital media, and educational content. Imagination Playground now distributes to schools and museums across the globe.

From physical product designs to digital content and brand design, our strategies were based on extensive design research. We conducted interviews, surveyed different user groups, prototyped designs, and ran testing sessions to gather insights toward developing our brand.

We developed a logo and style guide delineating visual standards for a variety of use cases.

The style guide provides templates for a range of print and digital executions, including the website, newsletters, and e-blasts.

We created an e-commerce website that offers free educational materials for parents and educators.

We designed and launched number of exhibitions and events promoting Imagination Playground, including an exhibit at the National Building Museum.

This full-body digital interactive lets children extend their physical building experience into the digital world.

We worked with a developer to build and launch a tablet-based virtual builder app to serve as both a fun game and an educational tool.

In partnership with education experts from University of Massachusetts and Columbia University, we produced a series of guidebooks offering playful learning provocations and activities for teachers to implement in the classroom.

Our team self-published book of essays by academic experts on the history of construction toys. The book was a companion piece to an interactive exhibit featuring Imagination Playground blocks at the National Building Gallery.
